Ray Fitzpatrick: Annual Report 1999-2000
Ray Fitzpatrick (Faculty Fellow) with colleagues in Oxford and Birmingham Universities, began a multi-centre randomized controlled trial, funded by NHS R&D, to examine alternative drugs for Parkinson's disease. With Crispin Jenkinson (Oxford), he continued research into the health of individuals throughout Europe with motor neurone disease. With colleagues at the Institute of Neurology, London he completed a study to develop new methods of measuring outcomes in multiple sclerosis. He continued his positions as Chair of the Health Services and Public Health Research Board, Mecial Research Council as member of council of MRC. In March 2000 he became acting head of the Department of Public Health, University of Oxford.
