Japanese Beers Asahi is to Budweiser what marmalade is to marmite. Delicious, crisp and sophisticated pale lager made from rice. Its dryness adds to a slightly strange, faintly malty smell that is reminiscent of sake. Perfect with spicy-hot food and after a perspiring dance. Paul Vronsky’s favourite after hopping around with Lynn Cooke. Sapporo is to Asahi what a Ferguson B &W is to a Sony Plasma. It has a faint nose of vanilla and onions. Its bitterness, light hop flavours and hints of lemon and sherbet is a reminder why Sapporo belongs indeed to Sainsbury’s collection of Asian cooking spices. |
