Graduate trainee scheme 2009-10
Applications are now closed for the academic year 2009-2010. The post is advertised annually in the CILIP Graduate Training Opportunities Directory and on the Nuffield College Vacancies webpage. Lucy Forster is the trainee for 2009-10. Here is some information about the post prepared by our previous trainees. 06/09.
Borrowing policy extended again
Borrowing permissions have been extended again to all graduate research students (though not taught-course graduates who may continue to register for reference use) and academic staff (Fellows and Research Fellows, though not temporary visitors) from the other colleges of Oxford University. Up to three books at a time may be borrowed for a loan period of a week, renewable remotely once (and after that in person, if the item has not been requested by anyone.) Fines will be charged for late returns or renewals at a rate of 20p per day. 09/08.

New borrowing policy

More staff changes
Tessa Richards has been appointed Deputy Librarian. Ed Smithson has changed from Government Publications Assistant to Periodicals Assistant. Michelle Mumford starts on 8 October as Assistant Librarian (Government Publications.) Ruth Collings is the Graduate Trainee for 2007-08. 09/07.

Staff changes
Heidi Smith is covering Tessa Richards' maternity leave from July 2006 - January 2007. Louise Green is the Graduate Trainee for 2006-07. Kirsty Taylor, Deputy Librarian, left in August 2006. 09/06.

New library staff
We are pleased to welcome three new members of library staff. James Butterworth is Senior Library Assistant (Periodicals) (maternity cover for Tessa Richards, February to August 2004) Clare Kavanagh is Assistant Librarian (part-time) and Tula Miller is Assistant Librarian (Cataloguing). 03/04

Summer vacation closure
From 2003, instead of closing completely for any periods over the summer, the Library will be open for the afternoons only (2 -5.30) from mid-July until mid-September. 05/03
Deputy Librarian
Victoria Child left the Library in November 2002 to relocate to Somerset. Kirsty Arnell, formerly of the Said Business School Library, started in May 2003. 05/03
Appointment of Librarian
Elizabeth Martin, formerly Head of Reader Services at the Bodleian Law Library, has succeeded James Legg as Librarian, and took up her new post on 1 May 2001. 05/01
Upper Reading Room
As of 15 January 2000 -
Per A-M (post-1979 issues) and the photocopier are housed in the new Upper Reading Room (Floor 2).
Per N - P is in Tower 2.
Per Q - S is in the Cole Room (Tower 2).
Per T - Z in in Tower 2.
Quarto periodicals are in Tower 2.
Oxford examination papers available online
OXAM - digital copies of most of the official examination papers presented by the University of Oxford during the academic year 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.
