Vall&eacutee Blanche
The Vallée Blanche in the French Alps is one of the world's great off-piste ski descents. The route is not technically difficult, but extremely spectacular. The descent begins from the Aiguille du Midi cable car station (3800m/12 350ft) on the shoulder of Mont Blanc; it then winds its way 17km (11 miles) down to Chamonix (1050m/3413ft). The Vallée is surrounded by countless celebrated summits (the Grandes Jorasses, the Dent du Géant, the Aiguille des Grand Charmoz, and so on and so on).
