Ski mountaineering

 This is a picture of Lucy in the French Alps crossing the Col de Névache (2805m/9 116ft), following our ascent of Mont Thabor (3181m/10 338ft). A storm front was arriving and strong winds were picking up the snow and driving it into our faces. The col was particularly wild because the wind always accelerates as it passes through a col (owing to compression of the air mass).
