Sweden

One of Sweden's most attractive natural wonders is the Midnight Sun. This photo was taken near Gallivare in the Arctic Circle. If one is not used to the Midnight Sun, then it can be rather disorientating. For one thing, it can be difficult to get to sleep when the sun never goes down. Also, at midnight the sun goes round to the north. When I am navigating in the hills I usually keep an eye on the position of the sun through the day (sub-consciously, at least); so it makes me feel very uneasy to have the sun in the north rather than the south. Still, it is very romantic to see the sun just dipping to the horizon at midnight.
